Bernadette Deka Zulu is a respected public policy and governance leader with over 15 years of experience working at the highest levels of national, regional, and international development. Her influence, innovation, and impact spans across politics, civil society, and enterprise fields.
She contested in Zambia`s 2026 elections as an Independent Candidate for Member of Parliament, Chongwe West Constituency, a community where she grew up, went to school, and has served throughout her life. Although she did not win the election, she maintains deep personal ties to Chongwe West and Zambia as a whole, a lifelong commitment to community service, equity, and inclusive development.
The Future is In Our Hands
The Shaping Futures Foundation was founded based on inspiration and experience of Bernadette Deka Zulu to provide a channel to support young people to fulfil their potential careers and missions through mentorship.
The shaping futures mentorship programme, a flagship initiative under the Shaping Futures Foundation, will support young boys and girls aged between 15-30 years to gain work experience and life skills from established field experts and leaders in both local and international communities.
It is envisioned that the participants will be able to work with a mentor for up to three months, while undergoing formal training in either the entrepreneurial stream or the formal career stream.
